The average net price New York's private, not-for-profit college and university students pay is $27,410 per year -- significantly lower than the "sticker price" at most institutions.

New York's private, not-for-profit colleges and universities give $6.4 billion in aid to their students each year. When that aid is combined with state and federal student aid programs, the average net price students actually pay for tuition + room + board is lower than you might expect.

Net price is the amount students and their families actually pay for tuition + room + board after student aid is factored in. "Sticker price" is a college or university's published full price for tuition + room + board. With 86% of private college students receiving some form of student aid, only a small minority of students pay the full "sticker price."
