The number of New York students who are eligible for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) continues to fall because the program’s income eligibility has not been updated in more than two decades (since 2000). Increasing the income threshold from $80,000 to $110,000 would make over 24,000 additional students eligible for TAP. TAP helps the neediest students in New York afford college, these students deserve sustained state support.
