Statement by CICU President Laura L. Anglin on Campus Sexual Assault Prevention and Policies

News Date: 3/18/2015

Laura L. Anglin, president of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities, a statewide association for more than 100 private, not-for-profit New York State colleges and universities, said, “In no uncertain terms, let me set the record straight: Across New York State, at private, not-for-profit colleges and universities of every size and mission, counselors, public safety officers, faculty, administrators, and staff are working on a daily basis to create safe, positive environments for our students. Our college communities have been deeply engaged in careful discussions and collaboration to create and implement sustainable and effective policies and programs that educate and protect our students, and to comply with the letter and spirit of myriad laws and regulations regarding sexual assault on campus. We are wholly committed to preventing sexual assaults and to promptly responding in a supportive manner when they do occur. Any statement or insinuation to the contrary is false.”
