Student Aid Supporters Set to Gather; Hundreds of College and High School
Students, Faculty and Staff in Albany

Albany, NY – Hundreds of high school and college students, faculty and staff representing more than 50 colleges and university groups and supporting organizations from across New York State will gather in the “Well” of the Legislative Office Building in Albany, on February 2, to share their stories about the value of state student aid programs. Their focus will be on the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), Graduate TAP, the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), the Science and Technology Entry programs (STEP/C-STEP), and the Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP).

The program begins at 10:30 a.m. with remarks from Laura L. Anglin, president of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities and several elected officials. Beginning at 11:15 a.m. students and alumni share their stories about what student aid means to them. Attendees include over 600 students, faculty and staff from independent (private, not-for-profit) and public colleges and universities in New York State; financial aid and opportunity program administrators and supporters; and legislators and higher education policymakers.

More than 370,000 students annually depend on state student aid programs to achieve their college aspirations. More than four million students have received state aid to help meet their college expenses over the past four decades.

The New York Student Aid Alliance is a coalition of New York State public and private campuses, their students, and stakeholder organizations that support funding vital student aid programs for students in New York State. For more information, visit:
