CICU Launches New Faculty Professional Development Project

News Date: 5/2/2013

Albany, NY - Today, the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU) unveiled a new Faculty Professional Development project. This project is part of the state’s Race to the Top federal program, which also includes similar programs at City University of New York institutions and at State University of New York campuses. The Independent Sector annually confers 60% of four-year graduate degrees awarded in education in New York State.

The project will provide professional development for faculty and appropriate staff in education, and arts and sciences so that they have the information and resources needed to respond to the many changes in the areas of teacher and school leader certification, teacher and principal performance evaluations, data-driven instruction, clinically-rich teacher and leader preparation, and the Common Core State Standards.

A pre-recorded web-streamed launch announcement was made available on April 25. The announcement describes how Independent Sector faculty can become involved in accessing information, professional development and resources in their regions.
