Varinya Sheppard

Varinya Sheppard, was named President of St. Elizabeth College of Nursing in Utica in 2014. She is also a graduate of St. Elizabeth College of Nursing, having earned her diploma in Nursing there in 1984.

She has had a 40-year career in nursing at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, during which she also earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a master’s degree in Nursing Administration from State University of New York Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Nursing Practice at Rush University in Chicago, Illinois.

Under her leadership, St. Elizabeth College of Nursing announced in 2022 a new “Education to Employment” plan that will provide nursing students with free tuition and guaranteed job placement after graduation at Wynn Hospital, slated to open in 2023.

St. Elizabeth College of Nursing offers weekday and evening programs and a dual degree program with SUNY Polytechnic that allows students to earn an Associate degree in Applied Science from St. Elizabeth College of Nursing and a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Poly.
