Dr. Michael G. Scales, president of Nyack College and Alliance Theological Seminary, returns to the CICU Board of Trustees. He previously served as CICU board secretary. Inaugurated in 2007, Dr. Scales was unanimously voted by the Board of Trustees in June 2018 to serve a fifth term.

His administration’s milestones include the relocation of the Manhattan campus to a larger facility, providing nearly 170,000 square feet of custom-designed space in 2013. The facility was purchased in 2016. This modern structure at 2 Washington Street in historic Battery Park is near Wall Street, the Freedom Tower, Ellis Island and New York Harbor. An impressive roster of classroom, online or distance education degree programs continues to grow. The Doctor of Ministry; graduate degrees in social work, childhood education and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL); and undergraduate programs in nursing, biology, criminal justice and gospel music performance are the newest degrees.

Dr. Scales is a board member of The Christian and Missionary Alliance Foundation, Inc. (Shell Point Retirement Community), the largest life care community in Florida. Past leadership positions include his service as chair and vice chair of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) Commission for Advancing Intercultural Competencies; the Presidents Council of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), a 15-member panel of university presidents and the chief governing body for NCAA Division II athletics, where he served as Championships Committee Liaison.

Married to the former Susan Lynn DeLany for more than four decades, Dr. Scales and his wife are the parents of two daughters and two sons, and the grandparents of five grandsons and two granddaughters.
